Head Construction Continued

 More.

The heads are slowly starting to look more appealing and more solid minor some small errors. Those friggin ears! I need to be more observant of that feature, anyone got any tips for positioning the ear?

This head is to egg shaped

More Head Construction

More studies. Im starting to get a lot more accurate with the standard straight on view.

Now that im starting to understand the fundamental of a straight on view im going to look at the rotation of the same shape. Again, not as eeasy as it looks. I made many errors which i will correct in a new post. There seems to be an occurring problem with the shape of the eyes and the positions on the eyebrows. Im going to look at that further. I believe when i get the overall shape of the head sorted the features will fall into place a lot easier.

I drew this one below a lot larger than the one above. Excluding a couple of inaccuracies it proved to be a lot easier and i believe i was able to put more appeal into the drawing.

Here are studies from today

I seem to be getting better at getting the overall size and solidity of the head shape but features are still proving to be quite a problem. In the third drawing i manage to tie them together a bit better with minor issues. Those bloody ears are proving to be a bit of a nuisance. All good fun though :)

Head construction studies Continued

Damn! I cant get this head right at all, its a right pain in the arse. I don't think I'm analysing it as closely as I should be doing. Maybe I'm drawing it to quickly. hmmm

The head is obviously off but i don't think that is my main problem. I seem to be confused on making the eyes and snout fit on top of the head. Any suggestions guys?

This however is a lot more accurate and solid than it has been in my previous posts. Still looks a little wobbly though.

Head Construction

These heads are a lot harder than they appear. Trying to get solidity, appeal and consistency constant within these drawings is like pushing a boulder up a hill. Regardless it is still great exercise. Here are my latest spawn carrying on from yesterday.

Below is the bear/mouse head. Its less accurate than the one i drew yesterday but i believe the drawing itself is a lot more solid and appealing. The eyes however arent wrapping round the forms as well no is the upper hair line. Booo, something to look at.

This thing is a right bastard, i get get a nice line on the left side but the right always comes off ragged and ugly. It compares quite nicely in the comparison but the line itself doesn't flow as nicely i believe.

Jan 9th-Jan 17th Learning

Here are more studies. Im still having the same problem with head shapes and eyes but im gradually seeing more improvement. Proportions are getting better.

My first Jerry head in the top left is to rushed. So for the other three i slowed down and i believe they turned out a lot better.

My line work on this is a lot nicer than it usually is, a few issues with the head shape and space but better than i could of done three weeks ago.

The rabbit below shows the same continuing problem i have with the position in the eyes. I cant quite but my finger on it but they don't look right. Maybes its because they are pointing in opposite directions.

Without straying to far with what ive learned from the Preston Blair books i tried to make my own character based on what ive learned. A little generic but its a nice start.
